Today (10 September) is World Suicide Prevention Day; an opportunity for us to highlight that we all have a shared responsibility to prevent suicide.
This year the Consortium for the Prevention of Suicide, a Charity ICTS UK supports, is hosting a conference called “Start the Conversation” in London for an afternoon and evening of reflection, lived experience, insight and action — bringing people together to start the conversation and change the narrative around suicide prevention.
Ashley Fernandes, Executive Director – Corporate Security, ICTS UK & Ireland, will be co-hosting a panel discussion entitled, “Commitment to the British Standard”. The British Standard BS 30480 is helping businesses navigate intervention, strengthen workplace support and access a practical framework for suicide prevention.
This year, ICTS will also be making a Corporate donation to Suicide&Co, a charity dedicated to supporting people who have been bereaved by suicide.
It is normal to have ups and downs as we navigate through life, but it is important to remember that help is out there for those who need it. We are fortunate at ICTS to have access to our Employee Assistance Programme and to a team of specially trained Mental Health First Aiders. It is important to us that ICTS is a workplace that offers support to those who need it.
