At ICTS we are finding that more and more companies across many industries face a number of security challenges when it comes to providing a safe environment. We train our bomb sniffer dogs and their handlers to the highest standard to ensure they are extremely versatile, efficient and effective at what they do best.
All ICTS Explosive Search Dog Handlers are trained Search Advisors from a Police or Military background. All have experience of working in a wide range of environments. All Sniffer Dogs and Handlers are trained and accredited to ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) Standards at a Regional Police Dog Training School. This includes initial, refresher and continuation training to ensure our Canine sniffer dogs and handlers perform at the highest level.
Police accreditation takes place at six monthly intervals. Unlike many other companies who have in house trainers/assessors, by submitting to Police accreditation, we can guarantee a truly independent assessment.
All Bomb Sniffer Dogs and Handlers are accredited to HABC (Highfield Awarding Body Council) Level 4. All Handlers are also trained Security Officers, holding SIA Door Supervisor Licences. ICTS is BS8517 Part 2 compliant and a NASDU Inspected Company.
What are the benefits to using bomb dogs to detect explosives?
There are many benefits to using sniffer dogs, not only are they specifically trained to detect explosives but they are extremely versatile, efficient and effective at what they do.
One notable quality of detection sniffer dogs is that they are able to discern individual scents even when there are dozens of other scents around. Specific species of Canines can contain over three hundred million receptors in their noses compared to about thirty million for humans.
Dogs smell using the same reflexes as humans but are better than us at detecting odours. Their noses are larger than ours so they can inhale more air per sniff. They also have more odour receptors than us and their noses are more sensitive.
At ICTS we can provide sniffer dogs and handlers for a range of operations and assignments.
